Pat Smith Castle
This 30 ton/4 day fantasy castle was dedicated on October 8, 2006 to Pat Smith, Habitat for Humanity worker and sandcastle fan who died on Flight 5191.

Fairy Submarine

Fairy Sub
Ten artists were selected by Lexington's Headley-Whitney Museum to create small 'Faux Bibelots'. They are to be auctioned off at an October 28, 2006 fundraising ball. Damon is examining his entry on display at the Lexington Public Library.


2005 North American Sandsculpting Championship

Damon's entry in the 2005 North American Solo Championships. He placed fouth in the September contest. His record for this event is now 8 wins, 4 seconds, 3 thirds and 1 fourth in 18 attempts.





2005 ITALIAN NATIVITY
The Lost Maji THE LOST MAJI
This is my contribution to the 2005 Presepe di Sabbia (Nativity of Sand) produced by the Sultans Of Sand company for Jesolo, Italy. Nine sculptors, from Russia, England, Chech Republic, Holland and the USA worked six days on a 600 ton version of the Christmas story. Last year 100,000 spectators viewed the tented display during December.





TURTLE TRAX
SkyTurtle SKYTURTLE
Damon's contribution to the 2005-6 Vero Beach, Florida public art project. Damon was invited to participate as of of half a dozen 'celebrity artists'. Each of the 52 participating artists started with a five foot tall fiberglass turtle. Damon describes SKYTURTLE, with his windblown spinning prop, as a turtle of the future, having evolved flight capability to escape shrinking habitats. Turtles were on display throughout Vero Beach until they were auctioned off in April, 2006.

My example of a five ton commercial sculpture. The seven foot tall, three day sculpture was designed and created to promote Virginia Beach tourism for their booth at February's ABA convention in Nashville.
